Invivo Marlborough Sophie's Rosé 2015

The 2015 Sophie’s was a charmer from the beginning, sweet REAL strawberries (not just pretend ones which all us winemakers use as descriptors!) are literally pushed out of the glass as this wine is so aromatic there is just simply no more room for them…

The palate is equally laden with a fat core of summer berries with a perfectly balanced dry finish and just the right amount of sweet fruit lingering… demanding you drink more!

Rain, hail or shine this wine screams of summer and good times. Versatile with many food types, our favourite recommendations being barbecued giant garlicky prawns, or butter poached lobster!

"Made from Pinot Noir, this is delightfully fragrant and immediately appealing on the nose displaying white stone fruit, citrus, raspberry and floral aromas, leading to a juicy palate that shows excellent fruit intensity and vibrancy. The wine is refreshing, lively and very tasty."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Bright, purple pink colour with some depth, lighter edged. The nose is fresh and intense with bright, vibrant aromas of raspberries, red cherries and fruit pastilles, unfolding subtle, mouthwatering herbal elements. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features bright and aromatic fruit flavours of raspberries and cherries. The fruit forms an elegant, tightly bound core with fine-flowing textures and line, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by refreshing, thirst-quenching acidity. Lifted confectionary elements emerge and are carried to a clean, zesty, aromatic finish of florals. This is a bright, tight and crisply refreshing dryish Rosé with raspberry and cherry fruit with confectionary lift. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 2 years. 100% Pinot Noir from Hardings Road and O’Dwyers Road, destemmed and crushed with 72 hours plunging and fermented to 12.1% alc. and 5.8 g/L RS."

"Delicious from the start, the 2015 vintage was made from Pinot Noir. Bright pink, it is attractively scented and full of vibrant, berryish flavour, with hints of plums and watermelon, and a sliver of sweetness (5.8 grams/litre of residual sugar). Fresh and finely balanced, it's packed with youthful charm."

“The burst of raspberry, cherry and tropical tones lead to an ultra-cleansing, pure-fruited mouthfeel that’s generous.”

The fruit was hand harvested and transported to the winery’s cool store where the bins were chilled to 2-4oC. Once down to temperature the fruit was de-stemmed and lightly crushed into open fermenters. The must was kept cold and hand plunged twice daily for 72 hours and then pressed. The juice was then cold settled, racked and fermented using Sauvignon Blanc yeasts.
